You shoot, G.I. you shoot...! No talk... Play !

Been working a bit on my MMA, Boxing and Martial Arts folder lately. it's obvious that fighting happens on a sort of stage, be it an octagon or a ring, and the people on that stage are also world class actors. they can fix a fight or go the whole 12 rounds, can switch from MMA to western kickboxing, to muay thai, shaolin, greco roman wrestling, brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a heartbeat, before putting on a karate or Judo Gi and going to the olympics under yet another name. That's why some guy came up with the brilliant idea of making half a dozen different boxing federations. so in the end its all very confusing and nobody can tell his right hand from the left anymore.. famous fighters "disappear" overnight, and instead a new face is pushed on all channels, praised as the new hero.. little do we know, that excellence is only found in few people, and these few own all the big fight clubs, dojos, boxing arenas, talent agencies on the whole friggin planet. I have to say I never had a favourite fighter. my parents raised me strictly pacifist, which is a crock. you can't go through life without fighting, if you don't bring the fight. the fight will come to you. believe me it will. and when it's there. you better be prepared. But I digress..

So I watched some fighting movies, and there was this guy, when you see him fight its not really a martial art, he's like a painter, and the ring is his canvas. the gloves are the brushstrokes, and the color palette is his neverending bag of tricks. to see this guy fight is pure relaxation. he plays with his enemies like a cat plays with a mouse, before eating it. and eaten they are all. he is small, meaning every enemy he fights has a bigger reach. the only chance for him to lead in the fight, is by vast experience, technical provess, and unmatched speed.

Saenchai is owner of YOKKAO muay thai brand, and runs schools in phuket, bangkok and abroad. He is married with 6 children and also gives lessons all over the world. An excellent teacher that never lays his students out,  but rather takes them into a gentle dance,  like a mother animal teaches her baby,  without yelling or many words. A bit cocky at times, he likes to show off, and feels at ease when being in total control. But watching him is  simply fascinating. now around 40, he still outclasses the best of his own weight division, so he routinely takes on bigger, heavier guys (up to 35lbs +).  But they still don't stand the slightest chance.

So, you see, it's not all MMA, almost every country has its own martial art, some even have several. And each martial art has its master. But when you get to the bottom of things,  they're all more or less from the same few bloodlines.

If you're a routine watcher of MMA or martial arts, and find a guy where you go  "dude, he totally looks like...." believe me, it most likely is him. he also must have alters for the thai army and likely many other asian countries. as well as the usual singer /actor/ politician stuff. these are standard. they all have them. you should know that by now. And if you still read mainstream media. you shouldn't even be on this blog. you can't go both ways. it just doesn't work.
